A few years ago, I began a new role as a general manager for a wholesale seed distribution company in Northern California servicing domestic and international customers. I was the company’s first general manager, and this was also my first role as a general manager. Shortly after starting this new position, I sought to increase employee engagement and to create a dynamic and motivated team of employees.
Within a year of beginning my new role, I contacted Tess Cox and requested business coaching support. Tess was a delight with which to work and provided invaluable insight for me. I continued working with Tess over the next couple of years as I worked to improve as a leader. Tess was instrumental in improving my awareness and skills around creating and leading a stellar team. At one point, Tess joined us for an afternoon of team building activities. The team was receptive to Tess’ coaching and afterward praised the experience. The aftermath of our team building session was obvious to me as many of our team members opened up and there was a genuine feeling of comradery among the group.
