On Saturday, September 26th, Deanna van Klaveran and Kattie Schmidig hosted our first 2020 “Find Your WHY” Seminar. I (Tess) participated remotely via Zoom. It was a wonderful, social distanced success!
As the students GATHERED together, they were fully energized to be together. Envision all 9 students who are extraverts – they enjoyed connecting, being a part of a group, expressing themselves to others and being active.
The engagement, humor, laughter and trust was very high, as they interacted with the learning, small group activities and large group discussions.
The students are from three different High Schools. Some of them know one another and most were meeting each other for the first time. After being together for the 3 hour Seminar - below are their thoughts about what was meaningful to them at the end of the seminar:
I felt connected to everyone
I felt like family already
I enjoyed that everyone had a good sense of humor
I felt that I could express what I was thinking
I felt safe
I felt like I could talk to everyone
I felt like everyone was helpful
I loved being a part
I really like everyone
Overall, they were all well connected, willing to share, they didn’t hold back and they really liked the seminar experience. One person made the comment that “they didn’t feel alone” - so key during this challenging time of covid. Another person said, “We’re all extraverted and too much for some people, but not for each other.” The sense of enjoying being together was a great connection for them.
As we gather around our THANKSGIVING TABLE, the students create a wonderful mindset and strategy for enjoying your time with family and friends. With their thoughts mentioned above - it may be helpful to choose one of the 9 areas to focus on, as you gather together, collectively drawing near, to create a meaningful Holiday for you and your family.
